That’s why we made a list of 15 healthy foods that aren’t actually that healthy.

1. Banana chips were promoted as a perfect substitute for sweets. Why eat 300 grams of chocolate, when you can enjoy a healthy banana snack. Banana is healthy after all, right? The thing is, banana chips are made by deep frying bananas. Just one serving of banana chips contains about 10 grams of saturated fat, which has an awful impact on our cholesterol levels. Take a fresh banana instead, and you will be very satisfied!

Military Repels Boko Haram Attack

An attempt by Boko Haram terrorists to attack Nigerian Army’s blocking position early this morning in Gwoza, Borno state has been repelled by the troops.
According to a statement by the Nigerian army sent to Naij.com, the encounter which started at about 5.00am today, November 13, lasted for almost two hours.
Although details are still being collated, s 7 terrorists were gunned down and the following weapons recovered; 1 Toyota Hilux vehicle, 11 AK-47 rifles, 1 shilka gun, 1 rocket propelled grenade tube, 6 hand grenades. Others include several rounds of shilka gun and machine gun ammunition.
Presently, troops are on hot pursuit of the attackers into Sambisa forest with a view to eliminate all of them while the Nigerian Air Force is bombarding their locations through aerial attacks.
It will be recalled that the Boko Haram  terrorists ability as a coherent fighting force has been degraded over time by troops through relentless attacks, patrols and aerial bombardments.

How A Biafran Became President Of An African Country

The current president of Gabon is rumoured to be a Nigerian of Igbo origin who was accepted by a former leader of the country during the Biafran war.
With next year’s presidential polls coming, debate has been brewing over the birthplace of President Ali Bongo Ondimba of Gabon with critics allege fabricated his birth certificate to cover the fact that he was adopted from another country.
If the claims are proved true, it could keep him from contesting for another term and cost him his wealth.
This surprising revelation is about to be disclosed as a court in western France on November 12, Thursday, permitted a family member of Ali Bongo Ondimba to view the birth certificate of the leader after claims that he lied about where he was born.
The court in Nantes allowed 25-year-old Onaida Maisha Bongo Ondimba, a daughter of ex-president Omar Bongo, to read the documents in full.
Her legal representative Eric Moutet praised the decision as “enormous”, and “diplomatically complex”.
Ali Bongo is the only one of former president Omar Bongo’s 54 announced inheritors not to have produced the identification documents.
He became the president after the 2009 death of his father Omar Bongo, who had ruled the West African country and its oil and mineral wealth since 1967.
According to the Gabonese constitution one must be born Gabonese to become the head of state, but French investigative reporter Pierre Pean supposed in a recent book that the president was actually Nigerian and was adopted during the Biafran war in the late 1960s.
Bongo himself says he was born in Brazzaville in 1959, the former capital of French Equatorial Africa.
The Bongo family is alleged to have skimmed off 25% of the oil-rich nation’s gross domestic product over the years, and Omar was said to be one of the world’s wealthiest heads of state.
The Nantes civil registration centre is answerable for all birth certificates of people born in French Equatorial Africa up to 1960, when the former colonial countries in the region gained independence to become Gabon, Congo, Chad and the Central African Republic.
Ali Bongo declared in late August that he would give “all his share of the inheritance” from his father to “the Gabonese youth” in a speech marking the 55th anniversary of independence.

The Nigerian Army said that it killed seven suspected Boko Haram terrorists after a botched attack on troops in Gwoza, in Borno.
Tukur Gusau, the media Coordinator of Operation Lafiya Dole stated this while briefing newsmen in Maiduguri on Friday.
“Boko Haram terrorists, despite their obvious losses, have made a desperate but costly attempt to attack Nigerian Army’s blocking position early this morning in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno.
“The encounter which started at about 5 a.m. on Friday lasted for almost two hours,” Mr. Gusau, a colonel, said.
He said a number of weapons were recovered by the army.
“Although details are still being collated, suffice to state that seven suspected terrorists were gunned down.
“The following items were recovered; one Toyota Hilux vehicle, 11 AK-47 rifles, one Shilka Gun, one Rocket Propelled Grenade Tube, six Hand Grenades. Others include several rounds of Shilka Gun and Machine Gun ammunition,” Gusau said.
He added that troops were on pursuit of the attackers into Sambisa forest to eliminate all of them while the Nigerian Air Force was bombarding their locations.
Mr. Gusau said the attack was part of desperate efforts by the terrorists to draw attention.
“It will be recalled that the Boko Haram terrorists’ ability as a coherent fighting force has been degraded over time by troops through relentless attacks, patrols and aerial bombardments.
“The desperate attack was a failed attempt to project an image of strength, it is part of the last struggles of a dying evil,” he said.
Mr. Gusau said that troops of 7 Division Garrison and 112 Task Force Battalion also recovered large number of weapons in Mafa LGA.
.
“Similarly. troops of 7 Division Garrison and 112 Task Force Battalion on Thursday while on fighting patrol recovered weapons in Busheshe village in Mafa axis.
“The weapons recovered include two Hilux vans, two anti aircraft guns, three 81 millimeter bombs, 101, 60 millimeter bombs.
“Others are 20 ammunition boxes and 21 rocket professed guns, large quantity of 7.62 millimeter special ammunition and cache of different caliber of ammunition,” he said.

Messi is a great player; Ronaldo a great goal scorer

cristiano ronaldo
There have been unending debates about who is the better football player between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo and the arguments for and against either player as between them, they have won the last six FIFA Ballob d’Or titles between them.
Cryuff can be said to be biased in his choice of who the better player is as the Dutch maverick played for and coached Barcelona.
“I’ve always liked smaller, more technically gifted players because I was one.“
“Cristiano [Ronaldo] is a great player but he’s a goal scorer. He’ll never be that creative player you build a team around, the one in charge of how a team plays.”

Ronaldo concedes Ballon d’Or to Messi

Ronaldo and Messi
Photo: EssentiallySports  In a rare show of humility [something he is not known for], Cristiano Ronaldo has conceded the 2015 Ballon d’Or to his greatest rival, Lionel Messi.
The Real Madrid forward, the reigning World Player of the year said, “To be honest I think Messi is going to win this year because this kind of trophy, it depends on votes,” Ronaldo told Jonathan Ross on his show, which will be broadcast tomorrow [Saturday] night.
He argued that he might not win the award because Messi won the treble – La Liga, UEFA Champions League and the Copa del Rey titles with Barcelona last season.
“You win competitions, you win the Champions League you win the league in terms of individual,” he continued.
“I did probably the best season of my career which is good and I was the highest scorer in Europe [but] it’s all about votes, it’s difficult and to be honest I’m not very worried about that because as I said many times, I never thought I’d win three times to be honest.”
He then distanced himself from calling Messi his ‘rival’, saying they respect each other even though they do not visit each other at home.
“I don’t have rivals; we have a normal relationship. We shared this stage at FIFA for eight years. No one has done that in the past — only us — so it’s good. Ronaldo and Messi have been the only winners of the Ballon d’Or in the last eight years.
“I have a good relationship with him, he plays for one club, I play for another club. He won the best for him, I won the best for me.
“We have a good relationship, we are not home friends but we respect each other,” he added. Ronaldo scored 48 league goals last season while Messi scored 43.
Ronaldo made the on the day he revealed his 19 million Euros private jet.

World Cup Qualifier: Poorly rated Swazis hold Nigeria’s Super Eagles

super eaglesThe first meeting between Nigeria and Swaziland ended 0-0 on the plastic pitch of the Somhlolo National Stadium in Lobamba on Friday evening, in the opening round of the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The Super Eagles had more ball but failed to create scoring chances although Nhlanhla Gwebu had to make multiple saves from Godfrey Oboabona and Ahmed Musa in the first half, and Moses Simon’s free-kick that came off the post in the second half.
Given, the plastic pitch did little to help the Nigerians.
First Half
The first half started twice as Moses Simon had a clash of heads with 22 seconds into the encounter and both players needed treatment. Moses resumed with a bandage around his head while his opponent had to have protection for a suspected broken nose.
The home side sat back and elected to play on the break and resorted to shots from distance with the first on target from their captain, Thulani Tsabedze, testing Carl Ikeme on 23 minutes after he had received a yellow card for deliberate hand ball.
In the 32nd minute, Oboabona almost gifted the Swazis an opening with a misplaced pass. The Rizespor defender looked jittery on the ball and was yellow-carded in the 44th minute when he kicked a Swazi defender when he should have crossed the ball.
The half ended with the Nigerians crowding the referee seeking explanation for some rash calls.
Second Half
The second half started with Rabiu Ibrahim on for Sylvester Igbonu. Ighalo got an immediate sniff at goal from a defensive mistake but he blazed over. In the early minutes, slack passing in the midfield created chances for the home side and Tsabedze came close with a shot on 49 minutes.
The Eagles should have taken the lead on 58 minutes from a set piece. Ighalo was brought down on the edge of the box and Simon stepped up on the kick which hit the right post and bounced off Gwebu to safety. Ikeme was called upon to save Efe Ambrose’s blushes in the 61st minute after Mikel Obi was robbed of the ball.
The pitch had a lot to play in the lack of chances as the ball bobbled away as play got quicker in the last third and the Eagles tried to play balls in behind the defenders.
Ibrahim was taken off after being on the pitch for just 21 minutes as Kelechi Iheanacho got his debut. Obafemi Martins was also thrown on for Mikel with 19 minutes left on the clock as Oliseh sought a win against 132nd ranked team in the world.
Five minutes was added and Ambrose almost won the tie but his header, two minutes into added time, grazed the bar.
The two teams will now go all over again on Tuesday in Port Harcourt as they seek to qualify for the last round of the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

New ministers assume duties, pledge to bring about change in Nigeria

PIC.7. INAUGURATION OF NEW MINISTERS AT THE PRESIDENTIAL VILLA IN ABUJASome of the 36 new ministers assumed duties few hours after they were inaugurated on Wednesday by President Muhammadu Buhari.
The ministers were at their various ministries where they pledged to bring about ‘change’ promised by the ruling All Progressives Congress.
The new Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Audu Ogbeh, assured the ministry’s officials who received him that he would reduce the $32 billion Nigeria spends in importing food yearly.
Mr. Ogbeh, who was accompanied by the Minister of State, Heineken Lokpobiri, said following the dwindling oil revenue, there is now pressure on the agricultural sector to earn foreign exchange to replace the resource.
He stated that there was an urgent need to intensify research and marketing for food.
“Oil and gas has served Nigeria well. We did not manage the resources well. We can’t blame oil and gas. Now the pressure is on agriculture. How we are going to make it work to ensure yield and harvest is a burden all of us will carry together,” he said.
“We are going to face very serious challenges. We have to earn foreign exchange to replace oil. The demand out there is very high if we can produce the right quantity and quality.
“We have to intensify research, marketing of food. We have to deal with reducing the import burden of food of almost $32bn a year. I don’t know how somebody can explain importing bananas to the country or Irish potatoes from South Africa or vegetables from South Africa into our shores.”
Mr. Ogbeh, a former national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, assured that during his tenure the problem of high rate of malnutrition in the country would be tackled.
He said that cancer, liver and kidney failure had increased by 25 per cent in the last 25 years due to food poisoning.
“What is even worse, which we will together deal with, is the nutrition problem. Cancer, liver and kidney failure have increased 25 per cent in the last 25 years. A lot of poisoning is getting into our food system simply from packaging,” he said.
In the Ministry of Transport, the new Minister, Chibuike Amaechi, who said he would fully assume duties on November 17, assured that he would complete all the rail projects began by the previous federal administration.
Mr. Amaechi, a former governor of Rivers State, urged parastatals and agencies under the ministry and the aviation sector to cooperate with him to move the sector forward.
He said he would commence work by looking at the ministry’s budget and its level of implementation.
“Rail transport is the easiest thing to achieve if you get capable hands. We are going to work towards completing abandoned rail projects,” he said.
“They will help create employment and ease mass transportation of people. Our mandate is to deliver quality service to the people in accordance with the change agenda.”
On personal principles, Mr. Amaechi added, “If you come to me to gossip about anyone, be rest assured that l will tell the person concerned that this is what you said and you will be there to defend yourself, wrong or right.
“I am not as bad as they say. A lot of names have been given to me but I believe in principles. I don’t like protocols. When I say I hate corruption, I mean it. I don’t give bribe and I don’t take either. If you want to relate with me don’t give me money and don’t ask me for money.
“Just do your job creditably. Don’t see me on the road and run away. I am not as bad as they paint me. I don’t steal and l don’t befriend thieves and don’t put me in a position that l will not be able to call a thief, thief. Let us be friends because l am here to learn.”
The Minister of State for Aviation, Hadi Sirika, said whatever promise that had been made would be fulfilled and that the era of talking tough without acting had come to an end.
He assured that the new federal administration would deliver on its promises because it was aware of the high hope and expectation of Nigerians.
On his part, the new Minister of Labour and Productivity, Chris Ngige, said he would tackle unemployment effectively during his tenure.
“We will be at the forefront of the battle to stop the scourge of unemployment in the country,” Mr. Ngige, a former senator, said while addressing the workers of the ministry.
“We must, as a people, put on our thinking caps so that we can chart the way forward for employment generation.”
Mr. Ngige, a former senator, said although the new federal administration might not provide jobs for all unemployed people, it would provide the enabling environment for all the sectors to thrive.
According to him, efforts were already on to block all leakages so available resources could be committed to development.
He said, “We are the catalyst, the change agent of the change era; if we block leakages in our system, the country will be better for its resources will be made available for economic growth.”
The new Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, who was accompanied by the minister of state, Mustapha Shehuri, said he would bring together processes and activities of all the three ministries under his supervision.
“We are here to work with you in solving problems on ground as quickly as possible,” he said.
“We want to know if some of those problems are man-made or systemic. We want information on what has been done, what remains to be done, and what are the future plans. We want to continue from there.”
The former governor of Lagos State assured that he would harness the available human resource assets in the ministry and the physical assets, ‘’as all these information will assist us as we hit the ground running. We need to do more so as to regain lost time.”
Mr. Fashola said he would ensure there is improved power supply across the federation.
Mr. Shehuri, on his part, asked for a detailed ministerial briefing document to serve as a guide, adding that it would ensure proper take-off of duties.
The Minister of Environment, Aisha Mohammed, said she would achieve the mandate given to the ministry by Mr. Buhari.
“As the minister of state has reiterated, there is a time frame and within that time frame we have to deliver the dividends of this administration to our people,” she said.
“The one commitment that we can make is that as we read through this brief that you’ve got here, it is about us building on the successes that we have in this ministry and ensuring that the teams that we have are working effectively with the skills that will take it to another level.
“It certainly can’t be business as usual because the President has said it and I hope that the Ministry of Environment will give the support to the Minister of State and myself to make real difference and to be a role model for what we mean by that in the country.
“The country has environmental issues everywhere. There is no part of this country that is devoid of the challenges that we have and what we need to do is to find the resources, those that are within the country and the other two tiers of government, the resources that are outside the borders of Nigeria to make sure that we make a considerable impact with what we have.’’
The Minister of State for Environment, Ibrahim Jubril, appealed to the workers to cooperate with him and the minister.
The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Emmanuel Kachikwu, said the outstanding subsidy payments to oil marketers approved by Mr. Buhari would be paid immediately the government gets the approval of the National Assembly.
He assured of constant fuel supply across the country.
Mr. Kachikwu, who said he would continue in office as Group Managing Director of NNPC, added, “One thing is certain, whatever time I spend here, it is going to be spent with a lot of respect for the dignity of people. I am a very respectful person and I give as much as I expect to have.”
He said he would soon engage the executives of the various parastatals with a view to finding out if they have the capacity and ability to deliver the change mantra.
On the pending Petroleum Industry Bill, the minister said: “Government believes in the bill still. Government wants to see the PIB come through. However, government has indicated that there is a need to look at the PIB as was submitted to the sixth assembly and try and tinker with it.
“There are all kinds of issues. One of them is whether we need to yank out the fiscal terms and develop them into a different law, rely on existing laws, amend them or whether we do that as a separate component of law.”
“We will be at the forefront of the battle to stop the scourge of unemployment in the country. We must as a people put on our thinking caps so that we can chart the way forward for employment generation.”
On her part, the Minister of Finance, Kemi Adesosun, at a meeting with senior officials of her ministry, said the federal government had a clear direction towards returning the nation to the path of growth.
She however said that would depend on the management and staff of the ministry.
Okechukwu Enelamah, the minister of industry, trade and investment, who was accompanied by the minister of state, Aisha Abubakar, to the ministry, pledged to start work immediately.
Mr. Enelamah revealed his excitement over his new assignment and asked for the cooperation and support of the officials of the ministry.
‎The new minister of Solid Minerals, Kayode Fayemi, also assumed duties at the ministry’s headquarters, in Abuja shortly after the inaugural meeting of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) on Wednesday.
Mr. Fayemi who was received by top officials of the ministry, held a meeting with them.
In attendance at the meeting were the Minister of State for Solid Minerals, Abubakar Bwari, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, and some directors.
Mr. Fayemi told the officials of government’s plan to re-position the ministry as a major contributor to the economic growth of the country, adding that no stone would be left unturned in the bid to achieve the set goals.

Senator Ben Murray Bruce representing Bayelsa state at the National Assembly has explained to President Muhammadu Buhari how he can effectively pay the N5,000 he promised to pay unemployed Nigerians.
As part of his campaign promises, the Nigerian president had promised to pay unemployed Nigerians N5,000 monthly as a way of helping them survive before they get any job.
At when the matter was presented on the floor of the upper chamber, there was serious disagreement between the Senators loyal to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and their counterparts from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Nigerians have since asked the president to ensure he pays them according to his initial promise which Vice President Yemi Osinbajo believes will be carried out in no distant future.
Bruce, who has been in the news recently, has now told the president how he can go about the payment of the monthly allowance.
The founder of Silverbird Group took to his twitter handle to make his suggestions to the president.
