FG says it needs N233bn to rehabilitate Boko Haram ravaged states

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the North-East Humanitarian Multi-Stakeholders Engagement on Tuesday in Maiduguri, the Chairman of the Presidential Committee on North-East Intervention, Gen. Theophilus Danjuma, said N233bn was needed for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the communities ravaged by the Boko Haram sect.

The chairman of PCNI, who was represented by a member of the committee, Mohammed Danjuma, said the rebuilding of the ravaged states needed proper coordination to alleviate the sufferings of the Internally Displaced Persons.
He said the Federal Government and other stakeholders are determined to manage the humanitarian crisis in the region, adding that the IDPs would return to their communities after the reconstruction of their destroyed communities.
VP Osinbajo said:
“This region has suffered tremendously in the past six years. It has suffered from the destruction of infrastructure, farmlands, businesses, trades, the destruction of schools and the loss of school years.
“Rebuilding, restoring and rehabilitation will cost money and time. But neither money nor time can fix the trauma of loss of family members, relations and friends, the shame of the raped, the scars and fears of parents of the abducted and the kidnapped, the bewilderment that comes with loss of homes, possessions and livelihoods and the pains of hundreds of thousands of orphaned children.”
“The tasks before us are many and profound, to fix brick and mortar and to mend hearts and minds damaged by senseless murderous violence. But we are called not just to mend the hearts and minds of the victims but also of their traducers, and killers.
“The young men and women who have been brainwashed to kill, maim and destroy in the warped belief that by so doing they please God, they are also victims. Indeed, these perpetrators are themselves victims, trapped in the vortex of evil manipulation, compelled to dehumanise themselves as they shed the blood of the innocent.
“It is our duty to deconstruct the narrative that causes men to kill children on their beds at a boarding school at night even as we degrade the military capacity of the insurgents. The tasks are indeed many and profound.
“But while there is still so much to do, much has been done already. The many civil society groups, funding partners, regional and international partners who have given of their time, resources and even their lives in some cases, deserve to be commended. But for you, first responders, we would have been far worse off than we are today.”
He added, “We are in Maiduguri to show humanity and to give milk of human kindness to our brothers and sisters who for six years have been ravaged by Boko Haram insurgency by killing, maiming and abduction of innocent people.”

Why Lagosians Love To Shop At Physical Markets

The online market is fast becoming the point where Lagosians visit to purchase items. Shopping online is easy, fast and is less stressful which is why Lagosians shop online.
The advent of online market however has not overshadowed Lagosians’ interest in physical markets. In fact, it does not look as if the physical markets are competing with any other market as Lagosians still flock to markets. There are some markets in Lagos that regulate specific market days and the crowd on those days are always bursting to the seam.
While the online market has been able to capture a lot of customers, Lagosians still prefer the physical market and take every opportunity to shop in one.
Here are 10 reasons why Lagosians prefer physical markets to online markets

Bargain

If there is something Lagosians love to do in a market, it is to haggle and try to get the best bargain. Some Lagosians are adept at negotiating and trying to pay the least price for an item. They know how to put two items together and ask for a reduced price. The physical market provides this opportunity while the online market does not.

Colour

Selecting an item especially when colour is of importance is very tricky when purchasing online. Some Lagosians have complained that the colours of some items they purchase online sometimes come back a shade or two different from the one thy want or from what they saw online. One factor that is responsible for this is that the picture might have been edited to make it look more beautiful. Lagosians know they are getting the real thing when they purchase from a physical market.

Texture

The texture of some items might be unknown when purchasing online. Lagosians prefer to get some items in the physical market because they can feel and hold the product rather than imagine or assume what it would look like when delivered.

Size

Another reason Lagosians prefer to go to the physical market especially when they want to purchase clothing is because of size. It is almost impossible to get the perfect size when purchasing a readymade outfit online. It either comes out too big or tight. Lagosians therefore turn to the physical market to get their outfit as they know they will be paying for the appropriate size of their outfit.

Time

The wait for an already purchased item can be a daunting task. Most online markets in Lagos claim they deliver within three to seven days. While this is true in some cases, some Lagosians have complained that sometimes, the items do not get delivered on time. The wait can be frustrating especially if one needs the item at a particular period.

Sample

As important as touching and feeling an item before purchase is to Lagosians, so is sampling the item when possible. Lagosians like to get a strong feel of the item being purchased so that they will be convinced they are getting the preferred choice.

Delivery

Delivery can pose a challenge when a purchase has been made online. Sometimes, you might not be available to pick up delivery or in a different place t the period of delivery. This can be frustrating which is why some Lagosians prefer to go to the physical when the time is available to make their purchase.

Disappointment

Some Lagosians have complained about being disappointed about the items they purchase online. Sometimes, they complain about the price of the items and that the item delivered was below their expectation.

Quality

The quality of items purchased online sometimes might not match buyer’s expectation. Some Lagosians can tell the quality of an item on the spur and some require a little physical examination before the quality is ascertained. For example, some people can tell if the colour of a fabric will fade by just brushing the tip with liquid. This is impossible when purchasing online so some Lagosians prefer to do it the traditional way.

Cancelled Order

Sometimes, orders are cancelled after purchases have been made online. This sometimes happens when an item is out of stock or unavailable. Sometimes, a person might not even get a message that an order has been cancelled. This can be annoying especially when plans have been made around the item.

Speaking during the ministerial screening at the Senate chamber in Abuja today, October 27, General Mansur Dan Ali made this statement. He fielded all the questions from senators.

Former Akwa Ibom Governor Quits PDP, To Retire From Politics

A governor of Akwa Ibom state has retired from active politics. He also attacked the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a party on whose platform he ruled as governor.
Victor Obong Attah
Victor Attah, who was a member of PDP Board of Trustees, said he would be playing the role of an elder statesman to “continue to serve this country with love, strength, and faith”.
The former governor said the PDP did not stick to the ideals of democracy, and said for the party to bounce back it must stop looking for who to blame, and reorder its ways along the aims and ideals of its founding fathers.
“Who does not know that you only conduct election to fill a vacancy. But the PDP would start by announcing that there is no vacancy. Then it would offer ‘automatic tickets’ to a set of people. What manner of democracy” Premiumtimes quoted him.
He also attacked the PDP over the emrgence of his successor’s successor, Udom Emmanuel. He said Mr Udom was imposed on the people of the state and described the 8 years rule of his successor, Godwill Akapbio as “eight locust years”.
“Can the national publicity secretary of PDP, an eminent member of the National Working Committee that he is, point to anything in the constitution of the PDP that suggests that it is the wife of an incumbent governor that should nominate her husband’s successor, and having been so nominated, that the party should put its full weight behind the incumbent governor to impose the nominee on the state as his successor?” he asked.
The Akwa Ibom Governorship Election Tribunal recently nullified the April 11 governorship election in 18 out of 31 local government areas in the state, and ordered a rerun. Mr. Attah hailed the judgment as an indication that Akwa Ibom closer to being liberated.
Meanwhile, the national leadership of the
PDP had earlier described the verdict of the governorship election tribunal in and part of the script by the APC to manipulate the will of the people.
The to discuss the implications of the judgments to the survival of the former ruling party.

Bisola Badmus
The Abeokuta state born actress in an interview with Encomium speaks on her newly acquired multi-million naira boutique and her sugar daddy.
The impression out there is that movies are not doing well any more, and that informed why many of you are going into various businesses, what’s your take on that?
That’s not true.  There is nothing like that at all.  I am doing well in my career as an actress and a movie producer.  Even I just produced a movie, Selimotu Turaka, which will soon be released.
But a lot of people think most of you actresses are into prostitution just to live big since movies are no longer selling as before…
(Cuts in) That’s rubbish.  If they say we actresses are into prostitution and that’s why we’re making it in the industry, what will they say of the men in the industry?  Are they not making it or they are also prostitutes?  So, it’s a stupid talk.
There was this tale a couple of months back that a sugar daddy has opened a multi-million naira boutique for you in Idimu, Lagos?
That’s a stupid rumour.  There is nothing like that.  I don’t even own a shop let alone a multi-million naira boutique.  I don’t know where they got that.

Chelsea's Players, Roman Abramovich Want Mourinho's Exit

His latest misdemeanor involved a rant at referee John Moss at half-time during the loss to  and led to his dismissal for the second half.
A few weeks back, Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich released a public statement declaring his full support for the Chelsea boss after a 3 – 1 defeat at home to Southampton which in turn led to a seven-minute rant at the FA, media, his players and anyone not called Jose Mourinho. He even asked to be sacked or backed by the club’s hierarchy.
It seems time is quickly catching up with the man who called the Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger ‘a specialist in failure’. While Wenger has been consistent for the past 17 years with a top four finish, Mourinho is yet to continue his legacy of a top three finish in the Premier League.

According to the Daily Mirror (UK), senior players at Chelsea are looking forward to when the ‘happy one’ will be sacked by Abramovich.
It is also believed that the players are surprised at the manner in which their coach has left himself exposed to criticism from the media with his over the top post match conferences and rants at referees.
The Mirror states: “While a handful of players have aired grievances about Mourinho, there is an insistence that the manager has not “lost the dressing-room” and a feeling, in the words of one, that “we just want our Jose back”.
ESPN.com reports similarly. It is understood Mourinho is fast losing the confidence of many of his players, with only John Terry, Cesc Fabregas, Diego Costa, Gary Cahill and Cesar Azpilicueta listed as those who are still behind him.
The Chelsea owner is believed to be ready to sack Mourinho but the Portuguese’s representatives are demanding that the rest of Mourinho’s contract which runs till 2019 be paid in full.
If agreed, Mourinho could leave the club with a £30m payoff.

The Argentinian forward is involved in one of the greatest scandals. Reports indicate that the Argentine where Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City have all shown interest to land the 28-year-old player.
However, Bartomeu has responded angrily to the reports about the transfer.
He said: “People who say Messi is leaving Barcelona should be embarrassed. Messi is recovering for the Madrid-Barcelona game. He is hoping to play El Clasico, but injuries have their process. Leo and his father said they don’t imagine playing at another club. The relationship with the family is very good. We are not in the negotiation phase yet, when the time comes it will be presented. He has a contract for the next three seasons. Messi is very angry about the Spanish taxation. It is not normal, the information published on Leo Messi. If his tax advisers have made a mistake they have to pay like everyone else. Messi deserves respect as all do.”
Speaking about Neymar’s contract situation, the director added: “On the renewal of Neymar, this is the season of his renewal, yes. But of course we try not to relay the negotiations and work quietly to be able to announce the extension of his contract.”

Fashola Speaks On His Role In Buhari’s Cabinet

Fashola
The ex-governor of Lagos state speaking to All Africa noted that top priorities for the Buhari-led administration are security and the economy.
He said: “The president is clearly focused on security. We have seen some results, and it will get better.
“Dealing with the criminals who now terrorize parts of our country in a faceless manner poses challenges for our security apparatus, who were trained to deal with conventional opponents rather than these unconventional methods where soft targets are their victims. And government really, with all its best intentions, can’t be in every home and every corner of our society.”

When asked which ministerial post he may hold, Fahola said only President Buhari can tell.
He nominated us, so he would have a very clear idea what role he wants each of us to play. I believe he must have had deep reflection on who will be in what position,” he said.
The former governor was also speaking on his dismissals of people from Lagos while in office: “I think it isn’t appropriate to classify it as an expulsion. It wasn’t. We had citizens who had no address and probably migrated from God-knows-where to our state.”
“They were living as destitutes. Some had psychiatric problems. Some had other health issues. We rehabilitated them. When they got rehabilitated, they had to leave because it cost a lot of tax-payer money to keep feeding them on a daily basis, year-in, year-out. In some cases, they said they wanted to go home”
“And as I said during the screening, we didn’t know where home was except for where they told us. We wrote three letters to their home governments. None of them was acknowledged. We had to do something.
“As I said during the screening, we took them to the boundary of the state they called home, in the belief that they would be able to reintegrate themselves back to their communities. Perhaps we could have done a little more. But we were not assisted by their state governments.”
Answering to accusations that he spent 78 million naira on a website and N200 million on boreholes, Fashola restated that the reports were false.
