Nnamdi Kanu Gets Support From British Parliamentarian

The alleged arrest and continued detention of the popular pro-Biafran activist and Radio Biafra Director, Nnamdi Kanu,has dominated the Nigerian media for a while now. 
A statement published on the website of Radio Biafra on Saturday, October 17, had disclosed that Kanu was arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) as soon as he got to Nigeria from the United Kingdom.
Kanu’s lawyer recently revealed that the DSS refused to produce Kanu  despite his legal team fulfilling his bail conditions.
Meanwhile, a member of the British parliament representing Camberwell and Peckham, Harriet Harman, has written to the British government asking for details of Kanu’s arrest, The Scoop reports.

The letter which was dated 22nd October, 2015 and addressed to the secretary of state for foreign and commonwealth affairs, Philip Hammond, was titled “Detention of my constituent Mr. Nnamdi Kanu”.
Harman description of Kanu as ”my constituent” buttresses the claim by some Nigerians that Kanu is not even a Nigerian citizen as he has since gotten a British passport.
Harman, who is the deputy leader of the Labour Party, wrote: “I understand that Mr Nnamdi Kanu, who I am told is a British citizen and lives at …was arrested on the 17th October 2015 by the Nigerian Department of Security Services (DSS) when arriving in Lagos from the United Kingdom.
“I understand Nnamdi is the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) who are agitating for the independence of Nigeria’s former Eastern Region. I’m told that the pro-Biafra group are non-violent and therefore should be afforded protection under Article 1 of the charter of the United Nations.
“I’d be grateful if you could let me know your understanding of what Nnamdi has been arrested for,what he might be charged with, where he has been held and what consular engagement there has been.”

It will be recalled that Biafra supporters has been protesting against Kanu’s detention in Rivers and Delta states.
Recently, Kanu appeared in a video allegedly shot in Los Angeles in the United States of America circulating online soliciting for arms to wage a war against Nigeria.
